The southeast quadrant of Calgary is considered to be the area south of Memorial Drive and east of Macleod Trail stretching from the Bow River to the southern city limits. Fort Calgary in the South East is where the city was born. From the downtown, the southeast includes the very exciting East Village project and the original neighbourhood of Inglewood. The Bow River, which flows west to east through the city centre, takes a sharp turn to the south by the Inglewood Golf Course. Land along the river through the southeast features miles of parks and pathways. The Bow River Valley aside, most communities in the southeast are situated on flat prairie land.

The iconic Scotiabank Saddledome is situated on the Stampede grounds. Deerfoot Trail is a three-lane freeway which connects with east and westbound Glenmore Trail or to the far south, Highway 22X.
The southeast LRT Line is pending, with rapid transit bus service available during peak hours. Southcentre Mall is the largest indoor shopping centre in the southeast, with Willow Park Village next door and South Trail Crossing on the far eastern side. The Calgary Farmer’s Market and Fish Creek Provincial Park are very popular weekend destinations. Recreation centres include Talisman and the Trico Centre with another facility on the books for the community of Seton.
