The community of West Springs is a relatively new suburban community on the west side of the city. It is south of Old Banff Coach Road and north of Bow Trail SW, between 69 St SW and 101 St SW. Despite being so close to the city’s edge, commuting to downtown is easy and direct via Bow Trail SW. Construction in this area began in 2001 and build-out continues as building lots are still being released. West Springs includes the sub-community of Wentworth. The current population of this area is nearly 10,000 with room for more. West Springs has a large number of upscale homes on larger lots, and desirable amenities like walking paths, ponds green space and playgrounds. The dominant home style in West Springs is Arts & Crafts with extensive use of stone and stucco.

Larger shopping centres are nearby: West Springs in the SW and Market Mall in the NW. Getting in and out of West Springs is easy via Bow Trail SW or 17 Ave SW. Old Banff Coach Road provides access to the Trans-Canada Highway west for a weekend getaway to Canmore and Banff. The Calgary International Airport is 30 minutes away via Stoney Trail to the north.
Joan of Arc Catholic School and the new West Springs Elementary School are located in the community, with more elementary, junior high and senior high schools a short ride by bus or car. Senior high school students attend Ernest Manning Senior High School.
