Renfrew is a quiet community of 6,000 residents living between the escarpment to the north of Bridgeland and 16 Ave NE, between Edmonton Trail NE and Deerfoot Trail, minutes to downtown.  This neighbourhood became part of the city in 1910 but wasn’t truly developed as a residential community until the 1940s.  Prior to this, Renfrew is where the first airfield in Calgary was, and one original hanger from that era remains in the neighbourhood.

This NE Calgary community is also referred to as Renfrew_Regal Terrace in the Calgary MLS® system. The average price of homes for sale in Renfrew is between $785,000 and $820,000.  Many of the striking new homes built on older lots are priced closer to $2 million, while many of the 1940s era bungalows or storey-and-a-half homes, in close to original condition, are significantly lower in price.  

Some of the older homes were on double lots and developers have capitalized on this by creating Calgary infils - newer homes on 25 foot lots or luxury side-by-side duplexes.  Multi-family developments make up 62% of all dwellings in Renfrew and many are brand new, priced on average in the mid $300s.  Renfrew is just three kilometres from downtown Calgary and is a desirable neighbourhood.

Renfrew Community Features

In 2014, Avenue Magazine called Renfrew one of Calgary’s 50 Best Neighbourhoods.  Renfrew Athletic Park offers a pool, two hockey arenas and sports fields.  Residents are also near the Calgary Elks Golf and Country Club, the Bow River and Nose Creek pathway systems.

There are shopping and unique restaurants close by.  The Trans-Canada Highway traverses the north side of Renfrew and connects to Deerfoot Trail.  Schools in Renfrew include Stanley Jones School, St. Alphonsus Elementary and Junior High, Colonel Macleod Junior High and Crescent Heights Senior High School.
