Queensland is a medium-sized community of 5,000 people located in southeast Calgary, located between Bow Bottom Trail SE and the Bow River, north of Canyon Meadows Dr SE and south of the community of Diamond Cove. Queensland, which includes Queensland Downs, is a mid-1970s community comprised mostly of single family detached homes and semi-detached homes and townhomes.

The eastern edge of Queensland hugs the escarpment along the Bow River. A long strip of green space is an environmentally protected area and popular place for walks and biking in sight of the Bow River.

Queensland real estate is moderately priced with homes listed below the average selling price in Calgary.  Single family homes with an average of 1,000 to 1,300 square feet of living space above grade are priced between $410,000 and $445,000 with two and three bedroom townhomes priced under $285,000.

Queensland is a family neighbourhood with well-kept fenced yards, rear garages, towering poplar trees and access to the pathways along the Bow River. The combination of nice homes and reasonable prices means inventory in Queensland is often low as homes are quickly snapped up.
 

Queensland Community Features

Queensland is just off the crossroads of Deerfoot Trail and Anderson Road SE, two major arteries in Calgary’s South East quadrant.  There is shopping on the south side of the community on Canyon Meadows Dr SE and Southcentre Mall is minutes to the west.  The Queensland Community Centre maintains tennis courts and an outdoor hockey rink.

Trico Recreation Centre is nearby with indoor hockey rinks in neighbouring Lake Bonavista. There is a pre-school in the community, and students in Queensland attend schools in Deer Run, Lake Bonavista and Acadia with excellent bus connections to the Anderson LRT Station. The most desirable amenity is the Bow River and Fish Creek Provincial Park.
