The historic community of Ogden was founded in 1912 when the Canadian Pacific Railway set up maintenance yards on Calgary’s southeast side.  Despite being several miles out on the prairie, a street car line was set up along Ogden Road to serve the small population.  Many of the smaller cottage-style bungalows remain today, along with several churches of similar vintage.  

More homes were built in the area after the Second World War and again in building boom of the 1950s and 60s. In the 1970s, Lynnwood Ridge was added.  Along with Millican Estates, named for early settlers of this district, Ogden has remained a neighbourhood were residents are employed in nearby industries.
