Highwood is quiet middle class neighbourhood built in the mid-1950s in the central northwest quadrant of Calgary. It is located between 4 St NW and Northmount Dr NW, north of 40 Ave NW and south of McKnight Blvd NW. The vast majority of homes are single family bungalows and up/down duplexes. When the neighbourhood was first developed, the city planted a large number of elm trees on the easement of most homes. Today, these trees provide a lovely canopy over the streets during the summer. Currently, homes for sale in Highwood, Calgary are being replaced by new but moderately priced homes and side-by-side semi-detached homes.

Nearby Nose Hill Park is a great spot for an urban hike or to let the dogs run free. Downtown is about 15-minutes south via 14 St NW. The University of Calgary and Foothills Medical Centre are 10-minutes to the west of Highwood.
Highwood, Calgary is an amenity rich neighbourhood with churches and plenty of schools within walking distance. These include Highwood, Cambrian Heights, Colonel Irvine and James Fowler Senior High School.
