About Downtown Calgary Condos
There are 9,000 people who call Downtown Calgary home. There are no single family dwellings downtown – housing is exclusively apartments and condominiums and 50% of residents rent their home. Some older high-rise condominiums offer studio and one-bedroom suites in the $400,000 to $700,000 range. New condos towards the western edge of downtown provide buyers with more modern finishings and layout plus a slightly higher price with some larger units in the luxury developments priced closer to the $2 million mark. Downtown Calgary parking is very expensive and nearly all condo towers offer assigned resident parking.

The Core is Downtown Calgary’s major shopping destination, which includes Canada’s most high-end retailer, Holt Renfrew. The Scotia Centre is the other main mall as well as the prime retails shops located in historic buildings on Stephen Avenue. There are many grocery stores, medical offices, restaurants, night clubs, theatres and plenty of parks for citizens to enjoy year round. There are private gymnasiums downtown and a YMCA in the Eau Claire District. Downtown Calgary is home to corporate head offices and oil and gas companies. Office towers are connected via the Plus-15 system and it’s possible to walk several kilometres through the city centre and never go outdoors. Arts and culture buildings include the Glenbow Museum, the Telus Convention Centre, the EPCOR Centre for the Performing Arts, the Devonian Gardens and the renowned Calgary Tower. Students who live downtown attend school in nearby communities south of Downtown, with Crescent Heights Senior High School just north across the Centre Street Bridge.
