The Calgary community of Dalhousie in northwest Calgary was founded in the mid-1960s. Some of the early homes still exist on generous allotments of land, recognizable by the mature trees that still stand in the yard. Most homes in Dalhousie were built in the 1970s. Real estate in Dalhousie is moderately priced and the neighbourhood was designed with families in mind.
The boundaries of Dalhousie are just north of Crowchild Trail to John Laurie Blvd NW between and between Shaganappi Tr NW and Sarcee Trail NW. The neighbourhood is bisected by 53 St NW. Before this area was annexed to the city, there were acreages along Highway 1A, now Crowchild Trail. The famous Eamon Camp Service Centre was located here.
