The community of Chinook Park is one of the smaller communities located in southwest Calgary. Located between Elbow Dr SW and 14 St SW to the east and west, and Heritage Drive and 75 Ave SW to the south and north, Chinook Park is home to just under 2,000 residents. It is named for the race track which was at this location in the first half of the 20th Century. Many of the trees that surrounded the track still stand in the community.

Development of the Chinook Park neighbourhood began in the late 1950s and many of the homes are currently at the age where they are being renovated and modernized. Residents also enjoy close proximity to Heritage Park and the Glenmore Reservoir with bike trails and boat docks in the most tranquil setting in Calgary. Nearby 14 St SW connects with major roadways to downtown and the Trans-Canada Highway. Transit along Elbow Dr SW and Heritage Dr SW connects with the LRT at Heritage Station, just a few blocks east.
