Bowness is a charming community that is bordered by the Bow River on the north and east sides with 16 Ave NW (Trans-Canada Highway) on the south and Stoney Trail on the west side.  Bowness has a rich history.  It was settled as a municipality in the early 1900s when a developer from England attempted to lure his countrymen to Canada with the offer of estate-sized lots along the river.  The idea didn’t fly but it was the beginning of the community of Bowness, Calgary.  The wide streets and angle parking are evidence of the small town that became part of Calgary in 1963.  Bowness Park has long been a favourite destination of Calgarians since the days of the street car.
