Banff Trail is a close-in community in the northwest quadrant of Calgary The street of the same name was once the road to Banff, which is now Crowchild Trail or Highway 1A. It is north of 16 Ave NW and south of 24 Ave NW, with Crowchild Trail on the west and 19 St NW on the east side. This area became part of the city in 1910; however the land wasn’t really undeveloped until 1951 with the exception of a few small homes in Banff Trail.
Beginning in the 1950s, lots were sold to individuals by the city for $500 with a $50 rebate once a roof was erected on the building. Three-bedroom bungalows were the popular plan as well as attached models.
