The southeast has it all. There are inner city neighbourhoods where young professionals are attracted to spectacular new condo developments. In the outer suburbs, families enjoy plenty of green space and urban environmental reserve. Some of the fastest growing neighbourhoods are part of the new communities in Calgary SE.
There are nine Calgary neighbourhoods with lake communities, and seven of them are located in SE Calgary. The lakes in these neighbourhoods are large enough for water craft with beaches for swimming. During the winter months, the lakes are cleared off for skating. Small hills created during lake excavation are perfect for tobogganing. The southeast LRT Line is pending, with rapid transit bus service available during peak hours. Southcentre Mall is the largest indoor shopping centre in the southeast, with Willow Park Village next door and South Trail Crossing on the far eastern side. The Calgary Farmer’s Market and Fish Creek Provincial Park are very popular weekend destinations. Recreation centres include Talisman and the Trico Centre with another facility on the books for the community of Seton.
