Ranchlands Homes For Sale - Calgary

The northwest community of Ranchlands, Calgary was constructed in the late 1970s and early 1980s.  Ranchlands is between Crowchild Trail and John Laurie Blvd NW, with Nose Hill Dr NW to the west and Sarcee Trail NW to the east.  As the name suggests, this land was once nothing but pastureland. 

When Ranchlands was built it was completely architecturally controlled. Homes were constructed using natural earthy materials and finishings.  The boulevards were planted with poplar trees which were ideal for new communities as they grow quickly.  Today the population is nearly 8,000.  Ranchlands also has an upscale sub-community named Ranchlands Estates.

About Ranchlands Real Estate

Ranchlands real estate is comprised of every type of home from side-by-side duplexes, mid-rise condominium buildings, townhouses and large family single detached homes.  The median price of homes for sale in Ranchlands is $385,000 to $445,000.  There are a variety of lovely Calgary condos available in the community for less than $285,000.  A typical home in the community is 1,000 to 1,400 sf in size.  There is land set aside on the north side of Ranchlands as a protected reserve which acts as a buffer between neighbourhoods.  In some parts of the community, residents have mountain views.

Ranchlands Community Features

Ranchlands, Calgary is in a great place for family recreation.  The Crowfoot YMCA is just a short drive one community over.  It offers an indoor pool, fitness centre, yoga studio and hockey arena.   Ranchlands Community Association runs tennis courts, soccer pitches and maintains outdoor ice in the winter for hockey and skating.  Shopping and restaurants are nearby at Crowfoot Crossing. 

The North Line of the LRT stops on the southwest corner of Nose Hill Dr NW at Crowchild Trail.  The U of C is 10 minutes south of Ranchlands and downtown is a 20-minute trip down Crowchild Trail NW.  Ranchlands has elementary schools within walking distance.  Junior and Senior High students are bused to nearby schools.
