The southwest community of Glamorgan, Calgary is located on former military land which was released to developers after WWII.  The neighbourhood is named for the Glamorgan Dairy Farm which was once located along 37 St SW.  Glamorgan is located between Richmond Road to the north and Glenmore Trail to the south, and between 37 St SW and Sarcee Trail on the east and west.  It’s a large community, constructed in the 1950s, early 1960s. 

There are plenty of nearby amenities and the Glamorgan community association having a community hall, offering recreation and social programs and maintains a skating rink in the winter months.

About Glamorgan Real Estate

Like most communities built in this era, Glamorgan features wide sidewalks, large lots, mature trees and plenty of green spaces and school yards.  Most houses for sale in Glamorgan are single family detached bungalows and split level homes, with townhomes, apartment condos and rental units along the western edge of the community.  Glamorgan Park, located in the heart of the neighbourhood, is a wonderful wide open space and the homes facing the park are always in high demand.

Glamorgan Community Features

There are several churches in the community in a variety of denominations.  Several bus routes take commuters straight downtown or to the Westbrook LRT Station, or east to the Chinook LRT station.  Downtown is a 15-minute drive via Crowchild Trail or Bow Trail SW.

There are many schools in the community, such as Glamorgan Elementary, Sir James Lougheed, A.E. Cross Junior High or St. Andrew.  High schools such as Bishop Carroll and Central Memorial Senior High are a very short bus trip away.
