Calgary Home Prices Increase in 2013

The year-over-year increase in Calgary home prices for December topped the rest of the nation, according to the latest Teranet-National Bank National Composite House Price Index.

The data revealed a 6.5% increase in annual Calgary price home sales, compared to the national composite of 3.8%, as Canada returns to a record high level.

The Calgary housing market performed strongly in 2013, with its momentum gradually transcending into the new year.

According to data released by the Calgary Real Estate Board (CREB®), the median and average sale prices of Calgary homes reached all-time high records in the recent year-end. This confirms that Calgary housing market is up in 2013.

Overall, the 2013 Calgary home market saw an 11% growth volume for the entire year. Calgary residential sales reached 1,172 units in December, resulting to a total of 23,489 sold units in 2013. The affluent community of Aspen Woods tops all other Calgary neighborhoods in terms of percentage growth in retail home prices over the past decade.

Aspen Woods home prices exhibited the highest growth in Calgary, beating close competitors like Victoria Park, West Springs, Upper Scarboro and Cougar Ridge, according to the Calgary Real Estate Board (CREB®).
